birds in progress.

birds.

birds, birds, birds, and more birds. this is what i constantly see in my paintings, and what emerges on my canvas.

maybe that's a sign? some kind of message for me? for the world? birds have become VERY popular over the last several years and what they are about can be easily relatable to people. everyone wants to be free, to 'fly' in their own way.

this is the fourth painting that i am working on. i purchased a 16 x 24 inch canvas to hang in my kitchen above my stove. this painting surprised me because it was the first time that i completed the background in one sitting. granted, my previous pieces are larger, but i worked them and worked them before i could start with the forms. i love the simplicity of the shapes, especially the white feathers and leaves. it's not quite done tho, i believe another feather or two is calling out to be added, but after that and a bit of tweaking some lines, i feel it will be done.

keeping this painting simple gives me some options to add in words digitally, which is something that i would eventually like to try out. i'm a big fan of quotes and such, so to see some words on here would be swell. i have visions of seeing my artwork on various things like prints, phone cases, coasters, and cosmetic mirrors etc. all in due time :)

peace,
